PEA VARIETIES Cruiser Green Field Pea Cruiser was bred by Crop and Food Research of New Zealand and is now a protected variety. Cruiser is a smooth round green pea with good uniformity of size. It is semi-leafless and has mid season maturity. Cruiser seed is a little smaller and less bleach resistant than Aragorn. Cruiser makes and excellent splitting pea due to its dark green cotyledon color.
Aragorn Green Field Pea Aragorn has very good uniformity of seed size and is slightly larger than Columbian. It also has excellent quality with darker cotyledon green color than Columbian. Aragorn is very similar to Cruiser in appearance with round smooth seed, but has better bleach resistance. Aragorn provides an excellent high quality split green.
Montech 4152 Yellow Pea The 4152 peas is a high yielding pea with a medium seed size. This variety also grows tall and stands up well into harvest. The Montech 4152 variety has been at the top of the trials in Havre and Moccasin.
Austrian Winter Pea The Austrian pea is a winter pea that can also be seeded in early spring. These peas have a smaller seed size therefore you only need to seed about 75-80 pounds per acre. Austrians can be used for plow down, hay or a grain crop.
